I became interested in painting some years ago while living in the Highlands of Scotland. There I trained with a professional artist.
My work has been sold in local exhibitions and through private commissions.
Interested in the history of art and artists, I studied at the Open University where I gained a degree in Art History and Humanities.
My paintings are influenced by my travels, the changing landscape and nature.
As well as painting with Oils and Digital Art, I like to experiment with different media.
The resulting art can be a combination of paint with fabric, paint with digital photography or collage.
These mixed media paintings are response to ideas or places visited, are intuitive and aim to capture the essence of a subject or idea through surface design and texture.
In contrast, my oil paintings are more”impressionist” in style. I aim to capture the effect of light to create mood and atmosphere by using broad brush strokes or palette knife to apply the paint.
